Green tea, which originates in China is made out of special Camellia sinensis. It gets minimal oxidation and has great health benefits. At present it has become extremely popular in Asian and European countries. According to a recent study, consumption of this tea can reduce heart diseases, cancer and treat obesity. Apart from these, Green tea also promoted weight loss.

Buzz up!Green tea weight loss has been termed as one of the healthiest ways of curb excess fat. Green tea can promote weight loss even among obese people.

Green Tea Weight Loss -
1.Burns Fat - Sugar and fat in food results in the creation of triglyceride. Triglyceride is carried by the blood stream to the other body cells. It is a source of energy and physical activities. When there is excess production of triglyceride, it converts into fat which then results into weight gain. It contains a substance called polyphenols. This substance dissolves the triglyceride and thus, green tea results in weight loss.
2.Exercise – One of the best ways to weight loss is exercise but one should have stamina to exercise for a longer time. This stamina is provided by this tea. It stimulates the fatty acids in liver and muscle. It also regulates the creation of insulin, which thus, provides energy to exercise longer. The additional energy provided by this tea also helps in the optimum results of the exercise.
3.Metabolism – One of the properties of this tea is epigallocatechin gallate (or EGCG for short), which stimulates metabolism and also leads to weight loss. This property allows fat to be released into the blood stream, which then can be used as fuel by the body. As the fat is being used as fuel, it heightens energy level and increases metabolism of the body. This promotes weight loss and burning of the fat.
The best way to make the tea is to brew 2.25 grams of tea in 150 gm of water. Doctors suggest drinking 5 cups of Green tea as a healthy practice.

How Important Hijab (Parda) For Muslim Women

"ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM WA REHMATULALLAHI WABA RAKATU"

ALHUMDUILALLAH i am muslim women. when i was at the stage of teenage i did not like to do hijab nor even i know how important hijab is for girl or a women, but now ALHUMDUILALLAH i know how important hijab is for women and i always thank ALLAH ALMIGHTY that ALLAH has made women so priceless and precious that not all can see her only a special people can see her face.I myself i really feel special when i cover my face, i feel that i am so lucky that non of ordinary or evil eye of men can see my face but only the special ones, like my brother, father, future husband etc.Only men with whom u have blood relation but that doesn't mean u can show your face to your male cousins.

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

1.Babylonian Civilization:
The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

2.Greek Civilization:
Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

3.Roman Civilization:
When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

4.Egyptian Civilization:
The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

5.Pre-Islamic Arabia:
Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

According to Quran and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:

1.Extent:

The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.

All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.

2.The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.

3.The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.

4.The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.

5.The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.

6.The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

Hijaab includes conduct and behavior among other things

Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behavior, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

Hijaab prevents molestation

The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Quran in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

"O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
[Al-Quran 33:59]

The Quran says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

Example of twin sisters

Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Quran rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

Capital punishment for the rapists

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

" And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands’ fathers, their sons..." [Al-Quran 24:31]

Health - Create the perfect sleep environment

Do you have a sleep problem?

Bedrooms should be used only for sleeping not working, eating or watching television.

Your brain needs to associate your bedroom with sleep.

If you have a television or computer in the room, then it is time to de-clutter and move them elsewhere.

You should aim to make your bedroom a dark, quiet and peaceful environmentin which to rest after a hard days work.

To do this:

Make sure you have a bed which is comfortable. Mattresses are supposed to be changed every 10 years. If the mattress sags, put a board under it until you can afford to buy a new one. You will also be doing your back a favour!
Fresh sheets and pillow cases may also help
If the morning sun is causing you problems, invest in heavier curtains or lining, or wear an eye mask
If your partner snores, buy some soft ear plugs
Keep the room at a decent temperature, and well ventilated not too hot in the summer or too cold in winter

Honey: Nature's troubleshooter

Honey has been in news for the wrong reasons lately. Antibiotic residues have been found in leading brands of honey – but it is a reflection on the way we produce our food.

(Antibiotics residues found in honey due to use of pesticides on plants and trees which also are on flowers from which bees gather honey and some are natural. )

Honey, a syrupy, sweet liquid is obtained from plant nectar by honey bees. About 80 per cent of honey is simple sugars, mostly fructose and glucose with small quantities of other sugars like maltose, sucrose and other complex carbohydrates.

Although honey is a high carbohydrate food, its glycaemic index varies within a wide range from 32 to 85, depending on the botanical source.

Honey, nature's original sweetener, is being rediscovered as a natural source of energy that also offers a unique combination of nutritional benefits. In addition to being a concentrated energy source, honey contains a wide array of vitamins (vitamin B6, thiamin, riboflavin and pantothenic acid) and minerals (calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc).

Honey also contains several compounds that function as antioxidants, one of which is unique to honey, called pinocembrin.

Although relatively low in nutrients, honey contains more nutrients than refined sugars. As a rule, darker honeys contain higher amounts of minerals and are strongly flavoured than lighter honeys.

Honey is sweeter than table sugar as it contains more calories - one tablespoon of honey provides nearly 65 cals compared to only 46 cals provided by the same amount of table sugar.

The use of honey as medicine is mentioned in most ancient written records but even today scientists and doctors are rediscovering its effectiveness in therapeutic nutrition.

Its unique composition makes it useful for treating several ailments, minor burns and scrapes including aiding the treatment of sore throats and other bacterial infections.

The viscosity and the hygroscopic qualities of honey permits its even spread on a wound bed, creating a favourable environment for healing. With these properties, honey has been used as an efficient treatment of chronic wounds of the lower leg and abdomen.

Thus, honey can be stated a treasure due to its following usages:

- Honey being a rich source of carbohydrates provides a quick source of energy. The sugars in honey are primarily glucose and fructose both of which provide the body with quick energy.

- Recent studies suggest that this unique mixture of sugars which occurs naturally in honey, also works best in preventing fatigue and enhancing athletic performance.

- Another study states that a spoonful of honey right before a workout is a good energy booster. A study presented at the annual Experimental Biology meeting indicated that using honey as a carbohydrate source during exercise significantly improved performance and power during endurance cycling trials. It was also reported that honey reduced time to complete a 64 km time trial by over 3 minutes (compared to placebo); honey produced over 6% greater cycling power during the time trial (compared to placebo); equal performance to glucose; and it was well tolerated by all subjects

- Honey consumption along with supplemental calcium enhanced calcium absorption.

- Honey is an anti-carcinogen. Honey-containing marinades effectively limit the production of potential cancer-causing compounds called heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) when marinated steak and chicken were fried. HAAs are formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures and the begins to char or blacken. Marinating meat for four hours in marinades containing 30 per cent honey significantly reduced HAA formation.

- Honey exhibits resistance to microbial spoilage.

- Most micro-organisms do not grow in honey because of its low water activity.

- Honey is a natural antiseptic, it helps in wounds healing, swelling goes down, and tissue grow back. Even burns heal better with honey.

- Honey contains appreciable amounts of plaque-fighting antioxidants and so reduces dental plaque. It also has an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, which is believed to be the main reason for the antimicrobial activity of honey.
